CRISIS IN OUR LAND
(copyright 1995)

Yesterday America, had teardrops in her eyes
A Crisis in our Heartland, had me trying to reason why
But, the picture told the story, how the flames of hate had fanned
And Liberty won’t be the same, with Crisis in…in our land…in our land

The fire chief, he held a child
Not much older than my own
It ingrained an image, in my mind, it chilled me to the bone
I grabbed my son and I held him tight
As tears welled in my eyes
A sobering reality was mingled with, with their cries,
with their cries, with their cries

The people gathered, found their strength
While CHAOS danced around
No way to turn back the hands of fate
The walls came tumbling down
They inched their way through mounds of earth
Together hand in hand
Both black and white, by day and night
While Crisis hits, hits our land, hits our land

(Bridge)

Our home out on the Heartland, just won’t ever be the same
The children lost, they shine from above
Because the Heavens called their Names (Call their names)
And only time will heal the wounds
United we must stand
To fight for all those things we’ve lost
When Crisis hit’s, hits our land,
hits our land whoooooo, ooohhhh

And only time, will heal the wounds
Together we must stand
Together one United front
Every Woman, Child, and Man!
