The
Story of a Rainbow
"Danita’s Rainbow"
This is the story of a poem.
A poem about a Rainbow,
that was given to a very special person.
Danita lived in Florida and devoted her free time in
Raising Funds for a "The American Cancer Society".
Danita is a survivor, and this is her story.
At age 26, Danita realized that something just
wasn’t right during a self examination.
The prognosis was not a very good one, resulting
in a Mastectomy. 6 months later, she found
another lump in her remaining breast, and had to
go through yet another surgery to remove the Cancer.
As a double mastectomy survivor, Danita overcame
all odds, and is now 8 years in remission and doing fine.
During that time, my wife Victoria’s father had just
passed away from Leukemia, so cancer seemed
to be every where. In a moment of compassion,
Danita sent Victoria a poem about Rainbows
that she was given during her own time of need.
It was through this poem, that the song
"Danita’s Rainbow" was Born.
I was so moved by the poem and Danita’s
plight, that I began working on the song
"Danita’s Rainbow" immediately. Once the
lyrics were complete, Gary Buck cleared his
schedule for me to fly to Nashville and record
Danita’s Rainbow.
It was less than a month
from the time of the poem, that Danita’s Rainbow
was recorded and manufactured as a fundraising
outlet for the American Cancer Society’s
"Relay for Life" event, to which Danita had
become the primary fundraiser
in her Florida hometown.

Danita’s Rainbow is a song for Hope and a
song for Charity for any individual, be it young or
old, whom may have been affected by a debilitating
disease such as Cancer. It was written to
bring forth the thought of
"Yes, I can Beat this Thing".
It’s about how we think, it’s about how
we feel towards life, and it’s about the
love we can bring to others if we take the
time to look beyond ourselves !
